DigiMed Bayern Symposium 2019:

Translational Medicine in the Digital Age

The flagship P4 medical project DigiMed Bayern was launched in late 2018 with over 20 million euros in funding from the Bavarian State Ministry of Health and Care. DigiMed Bayern combines comprehensive datasets from patients diagnosed with atherosclerotic diseases such as coronary heart disease, stroke, or genetic risk factors. These datasets are further enriched with state-of-the-art multidimensional molecular characterization (-omics technologies) of the respective sample material. For the integrative analysis of the resulting “big data,” an ethically and legally compliant, highly secure, and sustainable IT infrastructure is being designed and implemented. Patients and at-risk individuals will thus benefit from advances in disease risk prediction, targeted prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
