    'Juliane Winkelmann is a German human geneticist and neurologist. She investi
     gates the genetic architecture and underlying molecular mechanisms of comple
     x genetic and rare neurological diseases. Her focus is on movement and sleep
      disorders.<br />Prof. Winkelmann studied medicine at the Semmelweis Univers
     ity in Budapest and at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. As part o
     f her doctorate, she conducted research at the Max Planck Institute of Psych
     iatry. In June 2015, she was appointed to the Chair of Neurogenetics, and si
     nce February 2023, she has held the Chair of Human Genetics at the Technical
      University of Munich. Before that, she was a Full Professor of Neurology an
     d Neuroscience at Stanford University in California, USA. Since 2017, she ha
     s been Executive Vice President for International Alliances and Alumni of th
     e Technical University of Munich (TUM). She has received numerous research a
     wards, including the Outstanding Scientific Achievement Award from the Ameri
